Chill Factor: Farmakeio’s Cutting-Edge Cold Shipping Solution
All WorkIn the fast-paced, highly regulated pharmaceutical industry, Farmakeio, a compounding formula company specializing in hormonal treatments, needed to revamp their cold shipping solutions. They required packaging that not only ensured temperature-controlled delivery but also provided a premium unboxing experience. Partnering with our team, led by Sales Agent Erick Pascoe from our Dallas office, Farmakeio aimed for an eco-friendly solution that would elevate their brand and reduce shipping costs.
The Challenge
Farmakeio’s previous packaging was falling short of expectations. They relied on a bulky EPS cooler inside a plain corrugated box, which was not only expensive to ship but also provided a disappointing unboxing experience. The small vials of medication were often mistaken for packing materials, putting them at risk of being discarded. On top of that, the use of Styrofoam was becoming an issue due to tightening state regulations and growing environmental concerns. Farmakeio sought a solution that was both eco-friendly and luxurious, aligning with the premium quality of their medications.
The Solution
Our team created an innovative cold shipping solution for Farmakeio, featuring a sleek, Apple-like rigid box that enhances the unboxing experience. The design perfectly fits the vials and gel packs, reducing wasted space and shipping costs. We replaced Styrofoam with a liner made from recycled plastic bottles, ensuring 100% curbside recyclability and regulatory compliance. The uniform sizing of the shipping and accessory boxes allowed for tooling cost savings, while the modular design accommodates various product sizes without needing multiple packages.
We also introduced a custom clamshell for the vials, enhancing protection and visibility to reduce the risk of accidental disposal.
The Result
The new packaging solution was a major success, with Farmakeio seeing significant shipping cost savings due to the smaller package size. Customers responded positively, praising the improved unboxing experience, and the eco-friendly design resonated with their environmentally conscious audience.
Within eight months, the project went from concept to full implementation, with Farmakeio placing their fourth order in that time. This collaboration showcased our turnkey capabilities in design, manufacturing, kitting, warehousing, and distribution.
The project not only addressed Farmakeio’s challenges but also set a new industry standard for innovative, sustainable, and customer-focused packaging.
