Kosterina, a brand renowned for its premium olive oils, sought an elegant packaging solution for their holiday gift boxes. The goal was to create a versatile and visually appealing box that could hold either two 500ml or three 375ml decorated olive oil bottles.

The Challenge

The primary challenge was designing an insert that would securely support the bottles within the gift box while maintaining the structural integrity and aesthetic appeal of the packaging. Additionally, the insert needed to accommodate both box sizes without compromising on quality or functionality.

The Solution

Connor O’Shea and Rick Beckerman from the Rye Brook team took a hands-on approach to tackle this challenge. Collaborating closely with their corrugated designer, they developed a white E-flute corrugated insert that perfectly supported the bottles. The board combined the smoothness of paperboard with the strength of corrugated, ensuring both durability and an elegant finish. This innovative solution allowed the boxes to meet the minimum order quantity requirements and ensured a snug fit for both the two-bottle and three-bottle configurations.

The Result

The resulting packaging was a sophisticated, store-flat gift box that not only protected the olive oil bottles but also enhanced their presentation. Kosterina’s holiday gift boxes now make a bold statement on the shelves, embodying the brand’s dedication to quality and elegance. This project showcases the importance of hands-on collaboration and innovative design in creating effective packaging solutions.
