In the dynamic field of telehealth, Stephen Gould has made significant strides with AmWell by enhancing the design and reliability of medical carts, devices critical for remote healthcare delivery. Originally tasked with packaging, our Georgia and Maryland teams, lead by Alex Paxton, collaborated to quickly identify and address a core issue when a damaged cart highlighted the need for sturdier solutions.
The main challenge was ensuring the medical carts could withstand shipping without damage, crucial for AmWell’s operations which rely on the quick deployment of functional medical equipment. We revamped the cart’s design, taking over the production of most of its metal components. This change improved quality control and bolstered the cart’s durability. Additionally, we reengineered the packaging to allow a single person to easily unpack the cart, thereby streamlining the process and reducing labor costs.
These enhancements helped AmWell drastically reduce delivery issues and improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. By transforming a logistical challenge into an opportunity for improvement, we have supported AmWell’s mission and demonstrated the value of strategic collaboration in advancing telehealth technologies.
This project exemplifies how innovative backend solutions can significantly enhance healthcare delivery.
